The hotline accepts calls, online reports, mobile app reports, and texts to gather information concerning the incident of school violence, and the data is entered into a centralized database. The information is then phoned and faxed to local law enforcement and school officials, who in turn determine how to appropriately handle these reports. If this is an emergency, please call 9-1-1. This public service is not for emergencies that require immediate attention.

This police department is a safe haven for persons wishing to legally surrender physical custody of their infant. A parent or other person having lawful custody of an infant may leave the infant (without fear of prosecution) in the hands of staff. A parent will not be prosecuted for leaving their newborn at a safe haven if they follow the laws, assuming the child is under 60 days old and shows no signs of abuse or neglect.
