Initial consultations in the MCHS training environment can provide a safe space for family members to speak confidentially about the strains of caregiving without their loved one present. This facility is designed to display strategies and assistive devices to care partners.âÂï
In addition, MCHS provides training and education to the community and senior service and healthcare professionals. ThisâÂïincludesâÂïtraining workshops and health fairs in the community where current and future family care partners participateâÂïand continuing educationâÂïin collaboration with area health systems and residential facilities to provide training in caregiving techniques to medical professionals.âÂï

- PD101: Hour long introductory course with our executive director outlining what Parkinson disease is and the resource available in our community. Designed for people newly diagnosed (~1 year) with Parkinson's.
- Parkinson Education Programs (PEP): Seminars held 3-4 times per year on a specific Parkinson-disease related topic. PEP meetings usually last 2-3 hours and are open to anyone affected by Parkinson's, including those with the disease, their care partners, families or healthcare providers
- Family Conference: Usually held once a year, this conference is designed specifically for family members of someone with Parkinson's and addresses the unique situations that these people may encounter, lengths varies, 2-5 hours.
