Staff members work with youth and their families on an individualized education program or other education-related issues.

Provides direct advocacy assistance to families with children who have developmental disabilities and are having issues in special education.

Available to review student's IEP's and diagnostic reports and to assist parents in helping them understand what services are available and needed to ensure an optimum learning environment for the student with learning disabilities.

Youth with disabilities and their families are supported through: MPACT Parent Mentors- can assist a family requesting services from their school and will support the family through the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Youth Group provides various activities throughout the year.

Youth and Family Advocacy: Assists with teaching advocacy skills, information on IDEA (special education law covering rights and responsibilities), Individual Education Plan (IEP's) planning and process, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Also, assists with a child's rights to an appropriate education, parent and school communication and transitioning from school to the workforce and attends IEP meetings at request of parents.

Provides one-to-one assistance and in-person support assistance, IEP support volunteers and training for communication, legal rights in special education and the IEP process to ensure all children with special needs receive an education that allows them to achieve their personal goals. Also, offers parents many valuable resources about topics related to special education.

• Educational Advocacy In-Services/Presentations: Staff works with professionals to help them understand the nature of autism and the best methods and practices for teaching children with autism. The presentation can be tailored to suit a variety of audiences, industries, and situations.

• Educational Advocacy Observation (School, Church, etc.): Staff observes how a child with autism interacts with peers and provides feedback and recommendations to teachers and caregivers. Also, provide a follow up in-service presentation to help caregivers in all parts of a child's life understand how to support them.

• Educational Advocacy School/Individualized Education Plan Support: Staff members are on hand to attend Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings with families and caregivers, assist each IEP team in designing an effective plan that prepares each child for a successful school year.
