Eligibility
- Deceased worker widow or widower can receive benefits at full retirement age 66 years born in 1945-1956 and will gradually increase to age 67 years
- Deceased worker widow or widower age 60 years can receive reduced benefits
- Deceased worker disabled spouse age 50 years can receive benefits
- Deceased worker widow or widower can receive benefits at any age if she or he takes care of deceased worker child who's receiving Social Security benefits and who's younger than age 16 years or disabled
- Deceased worker unmarried children age 0-17 years or up to age 19 years if attending elementary or secondary school full-time can receive benefits
- Deceased worker unmarried children can get benefits at any age if they were disabled before age 22 years and remain disabled
- Under certain circumstances, stepchildren, grandchildren, step-grandchildren or adopted children can also receive benefits
- Deceased worker dependent parents age 62 years and older can receive benefits if deceased worker would have had to provide at least half of their parents support
